About Jatinder

Professional experience. Human connection.

Jatinder Kaur is a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse with more than 20 years of experience supporting people through mental and emotional challenges.

But qualifications and experience are only part of what makes a therapeutic relationship work.

For Jatinder, it begins with creating a space where you can speak openly, be yourself and feel genuinely heard — without judgement.

A Different Kind of Conversation

Sometimes we already know that something isn't working.

We may understand the problem intellectually. We may even know what we should do differently.

And yet the same emotions, behaviours or relationship patterns continue to appear.

Jatinder believes meaningful change begins by looking beneath the surface.

Rather than simply asking

“How do we make this feeling go away?”

The work can also explore

“What is this feeling trying to tell us?”

Through conversation, reflection and practical therapeutic approaches, Jatinder helps clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the patterns influencing their lives.

From that understanding, different choices can become possible.

My Approach

Jatinder draws on several therapeutic approaches, choosing what suits the person in front of her rather than applying a single method to everyone.

The approach can evolve as you do.

Counselling
A confidential conversation with structure to it — space to describe what is happening, and help making sense of it. Often where the work begins.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
An evidence-based approach built around emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness. Skills that are learned, practised and then applied to real situations.
Schema Therapy
A compassionate, evidence-based way of recognising long-standing patterns, beliefs and behaviours — where they come from, how they still operate, and how they can gradually change.
Mindfulness & Meditation
Practical techniques for steadying attention and settling the nervous system, taught in a way you can actually use outside the session.

Body. Mind. Soul.

Our thoughts affect our emotions. Our emotions affect our bodies. Our relationships influence how we feel. Stress can affect everything.

Working with only one part of that picture tends to leave the rest untouched. So Jatinder's work considers the whole person — the physical experience of stress, the thinking and emotional patterns underneath it, and the sense of presence and connection that mindfulness can restore.

It isn't about becoming a different person. It's about understanding yourself more deeply and having the tools to live with greater clarity and resilience.

More Than 20 Years in Mental Health

Twenty years of mental health experience changes how you listen. You have sat with a great many people, in a great many circumstances, and very little is unfamiliar or alarming.

That experience shows up quietly. It is in the pace of the conversation, the questions asked, and the sense that whatever you describe can be met calmly.

What matters more than any list of roles or years is what that experience makes possible: a steady presence, careful attention, and practical help that fits your actual life.

What You Can Expect

Your first session isn't an examination.

You don't need to prepare the perfect explanation of what's happening.

You can simply arrive and start wherever feels right.

Jatinder will listen, ask questions, and help you begin making sense of what you're experiencing. Together you can work out what kind of support fits.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindfulness is often misunderstood as emptying the mind or stopping thoughts. It isn't.

It is the practice of noticing — becoming aware of what you are thinking and feeling, as it happens, without immediately reacting to it or judging it.

That awareness creates a small amount of space. And in that space, a different response often becomes possible.

You Don't Need to Have It Figured Out

You don't need to know whether you need counselling, DBT, Schema Therapy or something else before reaching out.

You don't need to know exactly why you feel the way you do.

And you don't need to have the perfect words.

That's what the conversation is for.

Feel heard. Find clarity. Live well.

Feel heard. Find clarity. Live well.

Take the next step when you're ready.
